We are very proud to present the new
Ed Stafford Woodlander Bushtool knife, co-developed between Ben, Lois and Ed in the Craft Lab from the ever popular and proven Woodlander design. This brings together Ben and Lois’s material expertise, design themes and artisan production techniques with Ed’s personal preferences from his years of real-world expedition experience to create a functional masterpiece. In a world where you can survive with a sharpened leaf-spring, this truly is the art of bespoke hand-crafted knife-making, and Ed realising his hard use bushcraft knife. The Bushtool series will offer the same materials through the range using hard use materials that will make a super tough and durable Bushcraft tools but with the same great classic look.
Thel Ed Stafford Woodlander classic is made from 3.5 mm thick O1 tool steel which has been given an acid stonewashed finish, for a more rustic and hard wearing blade finish, it has our logo etched on one side and then Ed's ED logo on the other. It has a full tang construction for strength to allow the knife to be used in extreme conditions. The 3.5 mm steel cuts really well due to the classic "scandi" grind and makes a perfect thickness for no flex but still allows for a great bushcraft and woodcraft blade too. The blade shape is great for all chores including finer work, but is still suitable for all manner of bushcraft tasks due to the 4" blade as it is a super versatile blade length. The back edge of the blade is squared for use with a ferro rod and for scraping bark for tinder etc. The O1 tool steel is a great steel, it is tough, but is still easy to sharpen and holds a fantastic sharp edge, being carbon steel it can be used with a natural flint to make sparks for firelighting but does require a little more respect in wetter environments.
If you want to upgrade the blade to a 3.5mm thick AEB-L stainless blade to make this Nomad Bushtool into an all weather knife knife then this is now a great option. The AEB-L blade still has the great dark stonewashed finish and is marked with Ed's logo but means you have a knife that can be used and looked after very easily.
The handle is made from Natural canvas micarta with signature Blue G10 liners with 1/4" stainless steel loveless bolts for a clean look and great strength. It has been heavily shaped, contoured and blasted to give a great grippy feel in the hand and give a positive grip even in wet or cold conditions. This micarta handle will be a great choice for the adventurer or bushcrafter who needs a hard use knife which will not let you down regardless of the environment you are in or, if you want a wet weather knife, a canoe bushcraft knife or to use it a lot for food preparation, then this is a great Woodlander for your next adventure.
It comes with a Coyote brown kydex belt sheath with a soft loop belt system to make a great hard use sheath that will lock the knife in place totally securely even in the most extreme use or environment around the globe.
This very special package comes in a handcrafted presentation box which is embossed with Ed's logo and the Ben and Lois Orford logo, to make it an even more unique and collectable package.
