Description:
The sound world of Mozart's last years as depicted by the genius Martin Frest! Martin Frest, the "magician of clarinet" who recorded his third concerto and is a player of unparalleled talent, presents his latest work. Focusing on the duality of light and darkness, life and death, DISC 1 is a performance at the Leipzig Gewandhaus in May 1789, and DISC 2 is his last trip to Prague in the summer of 1791. This is also the conductor's debut recording with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, and features the third recording of the Clarinet Concerto, the last concerto and the greatest work completed by the 35-year-old Mozart in his final years. In this recording, 20 years after the first recording and 10 years after the last, Mozart plays the basset clarinet. In addition, the rising French star Duvalgue, who attracted attention at the 2015 Tchaikovsky Competition, delivers a beautiful sound in the "Piano Concerto No. 25" and a song (the two perform together on the "Quartet for the End of the World" CD). The recording also includes singing by Hallenberg and Lomb as well, giving a three-dimensional view of Mozart's world with Frest's unique sensibility.Frest moved from the BIS label to Sony Classical in 2016, where he has released "Vivaldi Works," "Messiaen: Quartets for the End of the World," "Roots," and "Night Passages.
